Bandari College Graduates 794 Diploma and Certificate Students During the 23rd Graduation Ceremony

The **Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Transport, Prof. Godius Kahyarara**, awarded certificates to **794 graduates** who successfully completed **Diploma and Certificate programmes** during the **23rd Graduation Ceremony of Bandari College Dar es Salaam (BCD)** held on **6th December 2024** at the College grounds in Temeke, Dar es Salaam.

The ceremony brought together government officials, Tanzania Ports Authority (TPA) management, education stakeholders, industry representatives, academic staff, graduates, and their families to celebrate the achievements of students who have been equipped with professional knowledge and skills relevant to the transport and maritime sectors.

In his address, Prof. Kahyarara commended Bandari College for strengthening collaboration with international institutions and emphasized the importance of such partnerships in enhancing knowledge exchange, innovation, and professional development. He also expressed appreciation for the College’s strategic plans to expand research activities and increase the number of academic staff holding **PhD qualifications**, noting that highly qualified trainers are essential in producing competent professionals capable of supporting the growth of Tanzania’s transport sector.

Earlier, in his welcome remarks, the **Deputy Director General of Tanzania Ports Authority, Eng. Juma Kijavara**, highlighted TPA’s recognition of the significant contribution made by Bandari College in developing skilled human resources for the maritime and transport industry. He emphasized that TPA, as the main beneficiary of the College’s training programmes, will continue investing in the development of modern learning infrastructure, including classroom facilities, advanced training equipment, and professional expertise.

Speaking during the ceremony, the **Principal of Bandari College, Dr. Lufunyo Hussein**, reported that student enrolment at the College has increased by **10 percent**, attributed to improvements made in training facilities, the introduction of modern teaching equipment, and the development of new academic programmes, including courses related to the **oil and gas sector**.

Dr. Hussein further explained that the College has continued to modernize its operations through the adoption of digital systems that integrate with other government institutions, including **NACTVET, TCU, HELSB, GePG, and NACTE**, thereby improving efficiency in academic administration and service delivery.

The Principal emphasized that Bandari College remains committed to producing competent graduates equipped with practical skills, technical knowledge, and professional values required to meet the evolving needs of the maritime, logistics, transport, and related industries.

The 23rd Graduation Ceremony marked another milestone in the College’s continued journey towards becoming a centre of excellence in maritime education, training, research, and consultancy, while contributing to Tanzania’s efforts to develop a skilled workforce capable of supporting national economic growth and regional competitiveness.
