Bandari College Officially Launches TZS 63 Billion Infrastructure Improvement Project

Bandari College has officially commenced a landmark infrastructure development project following the successful Site Possession and Project Kick-off Meeting held on Tuesday, 26 May 2026 under Contract No. TR221/2024/2025/W/18. The event marked the formal handover of the project site to the appointed contractor, signaling the beginning of a transformative initiative aimed at enhancing the College's learning environment and institutional capacity.
The meeting brought together senior officials from the Tanzania Ports Authority (TPA), Bandari College Management, project consultants, and the appointed contractor, a Joint Venture comprising SIHOTECH Engineering Company Ltd and AMJ Global Multi Contractors Co. Ltd. Representatives from all participating organizations reaffirmed their commitment to ensuring the successful implementation of the project through close collaboration, effective coordination, and adherence to the agreed project schedule.
The infrastructure improvement project, valued at TZS 63 billion (VAT exclusive), is expected to be completed within 549 calendar days. It represents one of the most significant investments in the College's history and reflects the Government's continued commitment to strengthening maritime education and professional training in Tanzania.
The project is designed to modernize and expand Bandari College's physical infrastructure, providing improved teaching and learning facilities that will better support academic programmes, professional development, research, and innovation. The planned developments are expected to create a more conducive learning environment for students, enhance the working environment for staff, and increase the College's capacity to meet the growing demand for highly skilled professionals in the maritime, logistics, ports, and transport sectors.
During the meeting, stakeholders reviewed the project implementation plan, construction schedule, quality assurance requirements, health and safety measures, and environmental management considerations. The discussions emphasized the importance of maintaining high construction standards while ensuring that project activities are completed efficiently, safely, and within the contractual timeframe.
The official site possession ceremony formally transferred responsibility for the construction site to the contractor, authorizing the commencement of mobilization and construction activities. This milestone signifies the beginning of an exciting new chapter in the College's long-term development agenda.
Speaking during the event, participants highlighted the importance of teamwork, transparency, and continuous communication throughout the implementation period. All parties expressed their shared commitment to delivering a high-quality project that will serve future generations of students and contribute to the advancement of maritime education and national development.
Upon completion, the upgraded infrastructure will significantly strengthen Bandari College's ability to deliver internationally competitive education and training while supporting Tanzania's vision of developing a modern, efficient, and sustainable maritime sector. The new facilities will further position the College as a leading centre of excellence for maritime education, research, consultancy, and professional capacity building in the region.
