Bandari College Governing Board and Management Convene Strategic Two-Day Working Session in Morogoro

Morogoro, Tanzania – The Governing Board and Management of Bandari College convened a two-day strategic working session in Morogoro aimed at strengthening institutional governance, reviewing the College's performance, and identifying strategies for enhancing its contribution to the development of Tanzania's port and transport sectors.

The meeting was chaired by the Chairperson of the Governing Board, Mr. Adolf Rutayuga, and brought together members of the Governing Board and the College Management to deliberate on key strategic and operational matters that will guide the future growth and development of the institution.

During the working session, participants engaged in comprehensive discussions on the roles, responsibilities and statutory mandate of the Governing Board in providing strategic leadership and oversight for the College. The deliberations underscored the importance of effective governance in ensuring that Bandari College continues to deliver quality education and professional training that responds to the evolving needs of the maritime, logistics and transport industries.

Board members and members of the Management team delivered presentations on a number of strategic topics, including the implementation status of the College's institutional plans, strategic objectives and key performance targets. The session provided an opportunity to assess progress made, identify achievements, examine existing challenges and propose practical measures for improving institutional performance.

The meeting also explored innovative approaches to strengthening the College's academic programmes, improving operational efficiency and enhancing service delivery. Particular emphasis was placed on aligning training programmes with industry demands, fostering innovation, promoting excellence in teaching and learning, and strengthening partnerships with key stakeholders within the port, maritime and transport sectors.

In addition, participants discussed strategies for expanding the College's contribution to the sustainable development of Tanzania's port sub-sector and the broader transport sector by producing highly skilled professionals capable of supporting ongoing sector reforms, technological advancements and increasing private sector participation.

The two-day working session reaffirmed the shared commitment of the Governing Board and Management to strengthening institutional capacity, promoting good governance and ensuring that Bandari College continues to serve as a centre of excellence in maritime, port and transport education and training.

The outcomes of the meeting are expected to further enhance the College's strategic direction and reinforce its role in developing competent human capital that supports the efficiency, competitiveness and long-term growth of Tanzania's ports and transport industry.
